Once upon a time, two suits called it a day at their dreary Raffles Place jobs and decamped to Japan to learn the secrets of Zen temple vegetarian cuisine. The pair now runs a bijou catering cuisine during the week and takes over Goto’s premises to serve just lunch on Sundays. This is exquisite vegetarian fare served kaiseki style, and the menu changes monthly. Our recent lunch included a silky tofu made of puréed sesame seeds, tiny logs of braised eggplant sprinkled with chrysanthemum petals, sweet potato discs in miso soup, and delicate mushroom-flecked potato croquettes.
