The inside of this two-storey space feels a little less personal than its sister Naïve’s (99 East Coast Rd) – there’s no artist-painted tree mural indoors – but its tall ceilings, topography-themed wall on a forest green background, dark wood panelling, and white and green chairs render it equally bright and airy, much like taking shelter in the woods. Of the 33 dishes, we liked the Penang rendang ($19) most; the cloves, tamarind and star anise in the rendang jumped out at us, as did the comfortably chewy, meat-like texture of the mushroom that peels off like beef strips. This is flavourful vegetarian food for former carnivores who don’t want to give up the textures found in meat.
Main courses $6-$33.
