The menu is incredibly good value, offering a comprehensive mix of baked rice, sandwiches, spaghetti bolognese, burgers,steaks and milkshakes. Oddly, there’s even a couple of local specials: chicken rendang and laksa (with a lightly spiced sauce thick with coconut milk, quail eggs and tiles of fried tofu). The beef stew’s thick wedges of meat are cooked until fork-tender, while the tomatoey sauce – punctuated with celery and carrots – is satisfyingly oily. The mountain of soft-shelled crabs, laced with a drizzle of cilantro-lemon mayonnaise, is a bargain at $8.90.
