Dinner-only establishment in the Selegie area
With three extensive menus to browse, the brisk service at this shophouse next to Selegie Road can come across as pushy. Fortunately, intentionally or not, concessions for this shortcoming are made.
House wines are carefully selected – at the time of our visit, the house white was a rare import from Croatia’s Galic (pronounced ‘gahleech’) Winery ($14). This refreshing, slightly tart floral sauvignon blanc is an excel-lent balance to the nummy, honey-like fig compote served alongside the chunky Foie Gras Terrine ($24).
The joue de boeuf (beef cheeks in red wine, $26), selected from the easel chalkboard menu set up alongside the table, is a less composed dish – the meat is soft almost to the point of mush – but its flavourful, red-wine-braised base will definitely have you going santé! Celine Asril
