If sizzling, butter-topped steaks are your thing, Lion’s Den is your place. The restaurant reeks of no-nonsense Soviet-era attitude (despite being run by a Hainanese) and cooking, so expect to walk out with food smells clinging to your clothes. The appetisers and desserts aren’t spectacular, but one sweet exception is the Russian staple flambéd bombe alaska – the fiery relative of baked alaska – Norwegian omelette or glace au four. Lion’s Den features a proper Bombe Alaska doused in dark rum and set ablaze at your table by a skilled waiter. Other than that, cross your fingers, stick to the meats and don’t expect haute cuisine.

I ate there last night, and it was pretty average. Until dessert, which had a LIVE COCKROACH IN IT!! BTW, did not receive a discount or refund from the staff.
