Steeple’s is as close to the diner frequented by Dagwood in the Blondie comics as you can get. Everyone sits around a cosily lit bar counter, the menu is small, and the staff invariably looks sullen but will sometimes smile if provoked. Everything from the fish and chips, blueberry shake and teriyaki burger to the Caesar salad, fluffy ham and cheese omelette, fudge and brownies are completely in character with the setting. In other words, it’s not a gourmet meal by any stretch of the imagination, but the easy, laidback vibe and value-for-money food keeps you coming back.
