When Dolly the sheep baa’ed for the first time, the throaty sound reverberated throughout the world. Man could now grant life, as well as take it. Ever since that day, scientists have been trying to perfect the techniques to clone humans. This programme looks at the progress made by one such group of scientists as it tries to overcome not only the technical challenges but also the opposition of governments and the international community who believe it would be ethically wrong to artificially create life. Cloning of humans promises to be either the zenith or the nadir of human achievement, which is part of what makes the idea so riveting.
