Stefano bike by Vanguard
We’re in love with Vanguard’s customised vintage bikes, which are mostly single-speed one-offs. For six years, husband-and-wife team Shaun and Jacinta Sonja have been taking classic bikes and giving them full makeovers with world-class parts to create gorgeous city bikes. They have around 20 bikes on show at their Pasir Ris showroom, but also sell at boutiques around town. Take the Stefano, a converted Japanese Tange frame from the 1970s, fitted with Trek parts, a Brooks saddle and a vintage West German headlamp. Accessories are also available at the showroom, from tool bags to Danish Yakkay helmets, which look like trendy caps. Viewing is by appointment only. From $3,000.
