The trend this season seems to point toward the East-meets-West route. Just look at the fall/winter ’07 collections of alldressedup and Pocket Venus (pictured), two in-store labels found at The Link. The former’s collection illustrates the best of both worlds with details like intricate Indian saristyle embroidery, razor-sharp pleats reminiscent of Chinese lantern shapes, and Spanish flair with bolero jackets, voluminous hems and dramatic ruching. The latter – designed by Jane Troughton and favoured by the likes of Jodie Kidd and Rosamund Pike – have graphic prints used on kimono sleeves and a modernist box-cut jacket jazzed up with Japanese beading and sharp pleats.
