Blame it on the likes of J.Lo and the (some say) oh-so-fabulous Paris Hilton, but the deluxe tracksuit is not going away anytime soon. At the height of its popularity – circa 2004 – these two divas, along with a handful of other comfort-chic loving celebs, drove the cachet of Juicy Couture’s velour and terrycloth creations into the stratosphere. And now, the brand has finally set up shop here.
The walk-in-closet-styled store is imbued with the brand’s desirable Southern California-meets-English countryside style: lipstick-wearing deer heads, Victorian busts with a subtle goth edge, and not forgetting its heritage, a glory wall of tracksuits galore (this season’s favoured shade, yellow) sporting signature JC slogans and icons.
For those not t-suit-inclined, there are sundresses, lingerie, matching mummy-and-me outfits, velour diaper bags, graffiti-style wellingtons (useful for the monsoon season), fun plastic timepieces and charming, erm, charms that open with a flick of the finger. For this spring/summer 2009 collection, there’s a certain Capri breeze blowing through their racks: pretty eyelet peasant tops, cherry prints, graphic block print sheaths, gladiator flats and teeny, tiny shorts.
