You may need a map to navigate your way around this sprawling new-ish mall but one thing’s for sure, they’ve got everything under one roof - both shops, eateries and Golden Village cinema with Goldclass. Consumerism aside, check out the Singapore Biennale 2006 artworks on display at VivoCity like Korean artist Choi Jeong-Hua’s creation, a six-meter tall Flower Tree, a spherical bouquet of brightly coloured flowers.
Opened in October 2006, VivoCity is practically the size of a town – a futuristic one complete with amphitheatre, rooftop pool and cinema complex. It’s unlikely you’ll cover all one million square feet of retail, leisure and entertainment space in a day, so conserve your energy. The shops are picture-pretty and varied; it also contains Singapore’s first Gap.
On the down side, they have the most annoying cab rank in Singapore where there is always a long queue despite the easy availability of taxis.
Vivocity was included in our recent One Night Stand feature.
