The grand regional mini-Olympics is back for its 24th edition, this time based in the northeastern Thai city of Nakhon Ratchasima (aka Korat). Team Singapore usually brings home a lot of medals from the SEA Games, as its best athletes pit themselves against their counterparts from nine ASEAN neighbours and East Timor. Most of the big Olympic favourites, such as football, swimming, athletics, gymnastics and boxing, are featured, as well as regional sports like sepak takraw (kick volleyball) and the martial art pencak silat.
