Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1000
Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1000The world’s smallest and lightest ‘full-HD’ camcorder shoots videos atup to 1080i resolution, a feature typically reserved for high-end models from other companies costing much, much more. Also on board: four megapixel still-shooting, 10x optical zoom and a SDHC slot – useful since an 8GB card stores...wait for it...a not-so-massive 85 minutes of full HD shooting. So is it a jack-or-all-trades or master of none? It’s never goingto beat dedicated HD camcorders and point-and-shoot digital cameras, but for an all-in-one the size of your palm and weighing only 268g, it’s one of the best out there. $3,6992.

Macbook Air
Macbook AirLook at the Air casually and it looks like a repackaged MacBook Promissing some features, but that’s still more expensive than the equivalent PC laptop. Look at it another way and it’s only 1.5kg, fits inside an envelope and has a great backlit keyboard, a rare find in laptops. Most of all, its minimalist approach gets the job done and comes without features you’ll probably never use, likea finger print reader unit to log in, or those external buttons and switchesyou use to manually turn off wirelessor to launch applications. If anything, these extras just make your laptop look too complicated and confuse the averge user. True, it doesn’t have a high-powered optical drive, replaceable battery compartment or a wide array of ports, but Macs have always been about good looks and less about GHz and specs. The Macbook Air is sleek, sexy, works well enough and is bound to prompt those who don’t subscribe to the concept of laptops to actually buy one. $2,988 (13-inch1.6GHz); $5,088 (13-inch 1.8GHz)
