Housed in an old, fort-style bungalow, Lloyd’s looks characterful from the outside. The interior is less impressive: rooms are clean and spacious, but bland. The proprietor has not yet mastered the art of exchanging pleasantries, but the place has been going for 16 years; the central location – a short walk from Orchard Road – and low rates must have something to do with it. Booking is advisable; it fills up fast. For an extra $10, you’ll get a fridge (useful, as there’s no room service).
