Singapore’s answer to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, this budget hotel is famous for tilting slightly (don’t worry – it is structurally safe). Built in 1953, it used to be a party haunt for British officers. These days the exterior is run-down, but there are charming old-fashioned touches such as a cage lift and dramatic spiral staircase. The rooms are clean and simply decorated; all come with a TV, and some have DVD players and en suite bathrooms. The backpacker brigade appreciates the beer garden, sun deck, games room, internet access and bike rental.
