In a refurbished colonial bungalow just off Orchard Road, SHA Villa boasts an alluring setting. But it is not the lap of luxury. Run by the Singapore Hotel Association, the place is staffed by hospitality students, which is a double-edged sword: the students are eager to please, but service is rough around the edges. With polished wood floors and teak beds, the place has character, but be warned: the standard rooms do not have windows. Breakfast is included.
