Despite the onslaught of budget designer hotels, the YMCA is sticking to its successful formula: comfortable accommodation at reasonable prices. All rooms come equipped with air-conditioning, TV and telephone. Most are doubles or twins, but there’s dozen family rooms with three or four beds, plus a handful of four-bed dorms. There’s also a gym, snooker room, cute little rooftop pool, internet café and outdoor terrace. The Y Café’s fish-head and chicken curries pack a punch. The central location is handy for the east end of Orchard Road, Fort Canning Park and the National Museum.
