Tour a durian farm in Desaru, Johor Bahru

First published on 13 Aug 2012. Updated on 11 May 2013.

Ah, durians: God’s gift to South-East Asians (and His curse on just about everyone else). Take a one-day tour to the award-winning Desaru Fruit Farm, which rears a large variety of organic tropical fruits, bees and farm animals. The affable general manager Henry Goh personally guides visitors. The tour package includes a buffet lunch and free-flow of durians for an additional $10. Kids also get to feed the assorted livestock, including goats and rabbits. Round off the Desaru Durian Feast Tour with a breathtaking night cruise down a swamp that’s home to scores of fireflies – nature’s answer to Orchard Road’s annual Christmas light-up.

Departs from People’s Park Centre at 6.15am, returning at 10.30pm. $88 per adult, $80 per child. See www.desaruff.com for more information.
