In 2002, owner Peng Loh (who also owns the New Majestic) turned five colonial shophouses into this 32-room boutique property. A vast collection of designer chairs – including vintage Verner Panton, and Charles and Ray Eames designs – decorate different corners of the hotel. Suites come with an outdoor bathtub, and there’s a Jacuzzi on the rooftop. Admittedly, the rooms are a little on the small side, but they’re equipped with flatscreen TVs, broadband and designer Marimekko bedspreads.

On the ground floor is Ember Restaurant.
