With its central location, the Rendezvous is easy for just that; it’s handy for both the CBD and Orchard Road shopping, as well as the National Museum and Singapore Art Museum. The architecture is a curious hybrid: a three-storey colonial building backed by a modern 11-storey edifice. The fern-fringed lobby strikes an elegant note with its marble floor mosaics. Rooms are polished but plain: a quiet mix of white bedding and pastel hues. But the glass-roofed courtyard leaves the biggest impression, along with the Balinese-style swimming pool and the well-regarded Straits Café (try the nasi padang), which overlooks Bras Basah Park.
