To begin, the therapist demonstrated how the Jet M machine worked and felt by testing it out on my hand in a public therapy area housed within glass walls at the front of the shop. The experience was surprisingly comfortable – not what I expected a prickly machine – what they warned me of – to feel like. I hoped the real treatment on the face would feel the same.
There is not much space to manoeuvre in the treatment room. I made myself comfortable on the bed while the therapist cleansed my skin of excess sebum and impurities with the Jet White Cleanser. Earplugs were slipped on afterwards, together with a shower cap, and the Jet M machine was switched on.
To demonstrate the effectiveness of the Jet M machine, the therapist first cleansed one side of my face and showed me the difference. It did feel a little uncomfortable – like a mini vacuum cleaner was suctioning my whole face – but the prickly sensation was minimal, and the cleansed side turned out fairer and more refreshed. Unlike most almost soundless facials however, the Jet M Machine is loud even with earplugs on, and takes a little getting used to.
Developed by a Russian rocket scientist, the Jet M Machine uses supersonic pressure to deliver actives to the skin for rejuvenation. The machine pushes oxygen and saline solution in a gaseous form at supersonic speed – like, well, a jet – to deeply clean and exfoliate the skin, while also triggering lymphatic drainage. The therapist then slathers on a thin layer of Jet Purple Peel, a serum made from the purple orchid – a flower known for its deep hydration and exfoliation properties – to kickstart the skin’s renewal process. This application of the flower essence is the main difference between the Purple Peel and the normal Jet Concepts facial.
An invigorating acupressure massage is then administered to the face before a mask is applied. My sensitive skin meant that the soothing and cooling Cucumber Soft Cold mask worked best for me. Right after the cooling process started, I received a welcome shoulder and back massage, and then another gentle layer of the Jet White Hydrator onto my face. Not that my skin needed it – my skin tone was already evened out and visibly brightened. I swear my pores shrank.
Jet Concepts, Wheelock Place, #03-03, 501 Orchard Rd (6733 7055). $88 for first session, $150 after. $46 per 45-minute session through August.

I went to try out a facial trial at Jet Concept recently. I was quite satisfied with the facial as the staff was service-oriented. However, the next time when I went back, I have a completely different set of experience.
A negative and frustrating experience! I was attended by one of the beauty consultant in the shop and she was trying to recommend me a facial treatment which is suitable for my skin.
She was very clear and detailed in explaining to me about the facial treatment and how it could beautify my face. Then, an old lady probably in her mid 60s interrupted the whole conversation and she took over.
I was very disturbed as she snapped our conversation and what irritates me more was that she put on her glasses and went closer to look at my skin to check the condition of it.
It's like she is trying to use a 'magnifier' to examine my skin! I was very annoyed by that and even more so when I do not know who she is.
What's more, the old lady wasn't dressed like any other staff in the shop. She has a red-dyed hair with all kinds of funny accessories and so that makes me puzzled about her existence in a beauty shop.
Her dress code is very unprofessional and she totally ruins the image of the whole beauty shop. Apart from her dressing, she was also very pushy and tried to persuade me to buy their packages.
Personally, I dislike the feeling to a large extent that I almost stopped her.Besides, she also recommended to a wrong type of treatment as I know I have a more sensitive skin. In the first place, I was already very doubtful of her judging from her appearance, but I allowed her to rattle on in order to be rude.
After all that she recommended, I told her that i would consider the treatment but she gave me a black face. I am starting to wonder if the old lady knows what service excellence is all about. In addition, when I asked for a brochure to look at the treatments available, she gave me a newsletter which was expired.
It was really a nerve-wracking experience and a note of caution to those who wants to try the facial in the store, Do not go in when the old lady is around. I know it sounds means but wait till you experience it yourself and you will know that what I stated are mere facts.

Dear Becky and Cloud, Thank you both for your invaluable feedback. We are sorry to hear that you felt our staff were too pushy, and regret that you may not patronize our stores because of your stressful experiences. Jet Concepts' main priority is to educate our customers - to teach customers about the skin and about effective skincare solutions. As such, we more than understand if you prefer to wait - to make sure that our products and services are effective - before making a decision. It is definitely not our intention to hard sell. In fact, we'd much rather you stay with us because you trust that we can deliver results, rather than because someone coerced you into buying a package. Please know that we take your comments very seriously, and are in the process of revamping the way our services are introduced to consumers. Once again, thank you so much for your feedback, and we apologize for any distress this may have caused. Regards, The Jet Concepts Team

I totally agree with Becky. Yes, the girls are pushy but what was worse is that the salesgirl or should I say sales-auntie that was attending to me. She was the ULTIMATE!
The last time when I was there, I did a trial and felt that the facial was not bad, something different from the rest of the beauty centres. But my nightmare came the moment I step out of the room.
There was this Malaysian girl who was trying her best to explain to me about the facial. It was ok, except that it was in broken English, but I was could still understand what she meant.
Then this auntie, i think in her 60s, came over and took over the conversation. And soon, she started pushing me to buy their packages. Wow, she was really ultimate! So pushy to the point I nearly snapped at her. Not only was she pushy, I feel that she was really rude to take over the whole sales presentation. Not sure if she is trying to snatch sales, but if I was the salesgirl, I will feel terrible! Well, I might have actually purchased their packages if not for her. I simply refused to give in to her and left.
I left the place confused & wondering. Wondering if she is the boss as she was not in uniform, so I went to goggle a bit and found out from their facebook articles that their boss is actually a younger lady. Then I became confused, why would a beauty salon hire an old auntie to be a sales girl? Won’t it spoil the whole shop image? She wasn’t only an auntie but she her dress sense were really weird. If I am a boss, I will definitely not employ her, moreover, we are talking about a beauty centre here.
My advise to all who wants to try their facial is to look out if she is there. If you happen to see an old auntie in the shop, DON’T EVEN THINK OF STEPPING IN! You will regret it! Well, if she is not there, their facial is definitely worth a try, it is refreshing and quite effective.

I recently went to try out the jet facial. i think it did have a good effect on my skin too but the way the sales staff pushed their sales down my throat makes me dread to go back there again.
Here is my story: I bought the trial jet facial on a different day and already 2 sales staff at wheelock were talking and asking me to buy this that.
They even use the threat method saying that if I don't buy the package by today I won't enjoy the offer. I was like hello you have to let me try first right.
So ok I did my facial at raffles city shopping center.the whole facial took 45min but the whole pushy sales took 1hr.again they were pushing the same package saying that if I don't buy it by today I won't enjoy the offer.
I really wanted to go back one night and see how skin reacted then decide again and then a lady said something I dint like:" if you buy it next time, you are just going to give us $88 for free".
I went home and after one night I was satisfied with my skin and of course I signed up for the package on my own free will and yes another round of pushing at the sales counter again.
I will not continue at jet concept once my package ends because the thought of going back there and hearing the pushy sales just stresses me out.
